On June 9, 2025, Association Tinhinan co-organized, in Ottawa, the transcontinental Talking Circle “Weaving the Roots of Tomorrow: A Dialogue Between Indigenous Knowledge, Feminist Ecology, and International Solidarity,” as part of the Feminist Climate Action in West Africa project (ACF-AO), implemented by Inter Pares and SUCO with the financial support of Global Affairs Canada.
This gathering brought together Indigenous leaders from Canada and people engaged in environmental protection and climate justice in West Africa. Discussions covered the threats facing biodiversity, the realities experienced across different territories, and community solutions grounded in Indigenous knowledge.
Participants also highlighted the importance of knowledge transmission, the role of women and youth, and cooperation between communities. The day closed in a warm atmosphere around traditional Indigenous foods from Canada.
This initiative is part of the broader ACF-AO project, which supports women and youth in Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, and Togo, from 2023 to 2026, in their efforts toward climate action, biodiversity, and environmental governance.
