On February 1, 2025, Association Tinhinan was honoured to be invited to the official opening ceremony of Black History Month, organized by Black History Ottawa at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Engaged in Ottawa’s community life and committed to a fairer, more equitable, and more inclusive society, our association was proud to attend this milestone event, which brought together community members, organizations, institutional partners, and representatives from many backgrounds to launch a month dedicated to recognizing the history, contributions, and legacy of Black communities in Canada. Black History Month is an opportunity to shine a light on stories, achievements, and journeys that too often go unrecognized. It is also a reminder of the ongoing work needed to advance equity, fight racism, and celebrate diversity within our communities.
