On February 12 and 13, 2025, two of our members, Dr. Mariam Wallet Aboubakrine and Jacques-Elie Don Assalé, took part in the Métis Nation’s Second Global Summit 2025, held in Ottawa, Canada. The gathering brought together Métis representatives, Indigenous leaders, researchers, and international partners around the contribution of Indigenous knowledge to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Discussions focused on health and well-being, education, economic development, climate, governance, and cultural revitalization. On this occasion, our association spoke about the holistic health of Indigenous peoples and presented the Ârramăt model, which integrates traditional knowledge into health practices. True to our commitment to approaches rooted in Indigenous knowledge and practices, we highlighted the need to rethink health systems based on the realities, needs, and lived experiences of Indigenous communities. This summit offered a valuable space for dialogue, sharing, and mutual learning, helping strengthen collaborations and continue a collective reflection on more inclusive, culturally appropriate health approaches.
