UNFSS+4, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Bringing together governments, international organizations, civil society representatives, youth, and Indigenous peoples, this global gathering aimed to accelerate the transition toward fairer, more sustainable, and more resilient food systems.<\/p>\n<p>Aminata Diallo, a young member of Tinhinan, spoke during the session dedicated to the transformative power of Indigenous food systems.<\/p>\n<p>She noted that &#8220;in the Sahel, as in other Indigenous territories, conflict, climate change, land dispossession, and reduced pastoral mobility are threatening food security and, in turn, the coexistence of multiple species.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Aminata Diallo drew attention to the challenges facing Indigenous peoples of the Sahel, including conflict, climate change, loss of land, and barriers to pastoral mobility. These pressures threaten their food security, the transmission of their knowledge, and the balance of ecosystems alike.<\/p>\n<p>Her remarks were made as part of the work of the Indigenous Peoples&#8217; Food Systems Coalition, which brings together Indigenous organizations, states, UN agencies, and other partners.
